Points of Emphasis:
-
Skating - crisp, clean, powerful, explosive, and efficient
-
Stance - finding a balance between form and function
-
Save Selection - building a foundation of saves that the goaltender can revert back to when facing the shooter
-
Coordination - hand-eye, agility, athleticism, balance, and practice with a purpose
-
Mental Toughness - reading the play as it develops and knowing how to react; understanding that goals will go in, then learning from our mistakes; get motivated, not frustrated
-
Muscle Memory - with the increased speed of the game, goalies cannot think when making a save, it needs to be a natural and instant reaction; repetition produces muscle memory, so proper practice makes perfect performance.
